Metabolic syndrome refers to a condition in which several important physical problems gradually develop in the body and disrupt the body’s normal metabolism or energy use process. It is not a single disease; rather, it is a combination of certain risk factors, which, when combined, increase the risk of major complex diseases in the future.

Generally, if 3 or more of the following problems are present together, it is called Metabolic Syndrome.

✅ First, excess fat accumulation in the abdomen, especially around the waist. This is known as visceral fat, which has a detrimental effect on the internal organs of the body.

✅ Second, increased blood sugar levels or insulin resistance, where the body cannot use insulin properly.

✅ Third, high blood pressure, which puts extra pressure on the heart and blood vessels.

✅ Fourth, high triglyceride levels in the blood, which increases the risk of heart disease.

✅ Fifth, a decrease in good cholesterol (HDL), which usually protects the heart.

If this syndrome is neglected for a long time, the risk of type-2 diabetes, heart disease, stroke, fatty liver and various hormonal problems increases significantly. Sometimes, even if people do not look very fat externally, Metabolic Syndrome can develop internally, which is even more dangerous.

The main reasons behind Metabolic Syndrome are irregular lifestyle, physical inactivity, excessive or wrong eating habits, chronic stress, lack of adequate sleep and lack of weight control.

However, the hope is that Metabolic Syndrome can be controlled if you are aware in time. By consuming a balanced and moderate diet, regular and body-friendly exercise, adequate sleep, reducing stress and bringing discipline to your life, the body’s metabolism can gradually normalize and the risk of major diseases in the future can be greatly reduced.

In addition,

Strength training strengthens the body’s muscles, and the more active the muscles are, the better the body can use glucose.  As a result, insulin sensitivity increases, blood sugar is controlled. At the same time, it increases metabolism, helps reduce belly and waist fat, and improves hormonal balance.
